Worship, Music, and Spiritual Life
Worship
Coming together for worship is of prime importance in our life as a church. Guided by the Holy Spirit, we celebrate the bounty of God's love and the presence of Jesus Christ in our lives and the life of the world. Worship - 10 a.m. (9:30 a.m. July and August) Church School - 10 a.m., except for July and August. Our Sunday Worship Service can be seen on local television on Sundays, at noon (previous week's service) and Wednesdays at 10:30 am and 7:00 pm. Church Members: If you miss the telecast or wish to see a particular service a second time, contact the Church Office (978-468-4900) to borrow the tape or click on the Videos of Services button. We share communion on the first Sunday of each month; everyone is welcome to participate in communion.
Music
Music leads us into the heart of worship. Please visit our music page for more information.
Spiritual Life
The spiritual life of our church grows out of our worship service. We gather together to celebrate God's presence in our midst, to pray through our joys and sorrows and to be sent out to join in God's work in the world.
We have an active church school and follow Safe Church policies and guidelines. We offer nursery care during our services and have a vibrant church school program for children from age three through seventh grade. Children begin worship with their families and leave about fifteen minutes into the service to worship and learn in age-level classrooms. To learn more about our Christian Education for children, visit our webpage.
Our Middle School Youth Group and our 8th grade confirmation class blend fun-filled activities with engaging spirituality. First Church sponsors a monthly Men's Forum, a weekly Women's Enrichment Group, a Book Group, special topics Bible Studies, discussion groups, and many more activities to help people express their individual spiritualities.
We share a commitment to missions and serve as a Host to homeless families with Family Promise North Shore Boston. We have an active Special Grants Committee that awards grants to a variety of non-profit organizations and the Anning Hiram Smith Scholarship fund for academic scholarships. We also support those who are mentally ill with our Tewksbury Hospital program. First Church has a very active Parish Care Committee and Prayer Team dedicated to supporting members of our faith community in times of need. |
